Though stretch marks do not cause any health issues, they are distressing and depressing. It is caused by rapid gain weight and is common during pregnancy. It is more common in women than in men. Stretch marks usually appear on your buttocks, thighs, abdomen and hips when the collagen fibres in the dermal layer are torn. Here are a few remedies that you can try to minimize the stretch marks.
Glycolic acid - Use moisturizers or creams that contain alpha hydroxy acid. It helps to boost the secretion of collagen. However, if you want to administer it in higher doses, meet a dermatologist.
Vitamin C- Include fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C; Else consume vitamin C supplements to increase the production of collage. However this is more effective at the initial stages of stretch marks.
Combination of retinoids and glycolic acid are said to produce good results in reducing the stretch marks. However, if you are under medication, pregnant or nursing avoid using these or consult your gynecologist before using the products containing these chemicals.
One of the home remedies for minimizing stretch mark is to make a lotion. Mix of 100ml of coconut, jojoba, almond or shea oil to 1000 iu of Vitamin E, 10 ml calendula oil and five drops of chamomile essential oil. Rub it on the areas of stretch mark regularly. Leave out the chamomile oil if you are pregnant.
